Receptionist/Administrator

We are looking to recruit a motivated and enthusiastic Receptionist / Administrator to join our friendly and supportive team in a busy doctors surgery in Calne, Wiltshire. There are two shift patterns available:

A: Tuesday (1:30pm-6:30pm), Wednesday (8:00am-1:00pm), Thursday (8:00am-1:00pm) and Friday (1:30pm-6:30pm) (20 hours per week)

B: Tuesday (8:30am-6:30pm), Wednesday (2pm-7:30pm) and Thursday (2pm-7:30pm) (20 hours per week)

You will need to deal with people at all levels in a calm and courteous manner, even when under pressure.

We are looking for strong team players who enjoy a challenge. If you have excellent people skills, good computer skills and a flexible approach to working, we would love to hear from you.

Main duties of the job

  • Ensure an effective and efficient reception service is provided to patients and any other visitors to the practice
  • Maintaining and monitoring the practice appointments system
  • Processing personal and telephone requests for appointments, visits and telephone consultations, and ensuring callers are directed to the appropriate healthcare professional
  • Computer data entry/data allocation and collation; processing and recording information in accordance with practice procedures
  • Initiating contact with, and responding to, requests from patients, other team member and associated healthcare agencies and providers
  • Providing clerical assistance to practice staff as required from time to time, including word/data processing, filing, photocopying and scanning
  • Explain practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover and ensure that all new patients are registered onto the computer system promptly and accurately
  • Advise patients of relevant charges for private (non General Medical Services) services, accept payment and issue receipts for same.
  • Scanning hospital and other healthcare professional correspondence
  • Keeping the reception area, notice-boards and leaflet dispensers tidy and free from obstructions and clutter

Job responsibilities:

  • Opening up/locking up of practice premises and maintaining security in accordance with practice protocols
  • Ensure an effective and efficient reception service is provided to patients and any other visitors to the practice

Job summary

Northlands Surgery is looking for a qualified, experienced phlebotomist to work within our busy growing practice.

Working Hours: 16-20 hours per week

Monday to Thursday afternoons (from 1:00pm)

No Fridays, weekends or bank holidays

Exact finish time (5:00pm-6:00pm) can be discussed for the right candidate.

The successful candidate will be joining an already well-established experienced and supportive nursing team.

Main duties of the job

JOB TITLE: PHLEBOTOMIST

REPORTS TO: LEAD NURSE

Job Summary:

The post holder must work as part of a team, have the ability to organise and prioritise their own workload on a day-to-day basis, and observe strict rules about confidentiality at all times. They must also know the limits of their own capabilities and seek direction from a Practice nurse, GP, or Practice Manager. Working under the supervision of practice nursing team and strictly in accordance with specific practice or national guidelines and protocols, the Phlebotomist will be responsible for performing venepuncture to obtain blood samples from patients only as the result of a direct referral from a GP or nurse practitioner.

Health & Safety

The post-holder will implement and lead on a full range of promotion and management of their own and others health and safety and infection control as defined in the practice Health & Safety policy, the practice Health & Safety manual, and the practice Infection Control policy and published procedures.   • Using personal security systems within the workplace according to practice guidelines
